Chara learned from a young age that life will only be what you make it. Based on that philosophy, she raised money during middle school and high school to play club volleyball and go to summer volleyball camps, overcame a torn ACL, and ignored those who said she couldn’t play volleyball at a high level.

Driven, Chara earned a scholarship to Grand Valley State University where she pursued a degree in Biology, French, and secondary education and helped lead the volleyball team to its first three Elite Eight appearances, three Conference Championships, three Regional Championships, and two Final Four finishes. Chara also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors for two consecutive years, and Academic All-American honors for three consecutive years.

After college, she moved to Florida to pursue her professional beach volleyball career and in the classroom, where she taught high school biology. On the sand, she’s had nearly 80 tour appearances in the United States and internationally, Chara is a two-time winner.
